Rubie's - In 1950, Rubin Beige, a World War II veteran, and his wife Tillie opened Rubie's Candy Store in Woodhaven, Queens. By 1972, they had shifted their focus to costumes and renamed the store Rubie's Costume Company. Today they have several stores in Europe and sell their wonderful, imaginative costumes all over the world.
